The Southampton District comprises 24 circuits stretching from Sherborne
& Yeovil in the west to Petersfield, Liphook & Haslemere in the east and
from Reading & Silchester in the north to East and West Wight in the
south. There are nearly 100 ministers and probationers in the active
work, 3 diaconal appointments and over 25 Lay Workers, Youth Workers and
Community Workers.
The District has a part-time Administrator, a part-time Training and
Development Officer and a part-time Youth Officer.
This very large District encompasses a variety of socio economic
patterns - major urban areas around Reading, Basingstoke, Portsmouth,
Southampton and Bournemouth; rural areas in Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle
of Wight and Wiltshire; coastal resorts along the south coast and on the
Isle of Wight.
